Asda bananas

For the past 2weeks I have bought some "Smartly priced" bananas from asda, when I opened the package last week one of them had a Del Monte sticker on. Bought some more this week, and again, found them covered in Del Monte stickers. 66p for 1kilo. They are slightly green and need to be in a warm room for 2 days to ripen, but, to me that's a bargain.

Just a quikie ... if u want bananas to ripen quicker than normal, put them near oranges or lemons!! Theres something in the zest of oranges/lemons that makes em ripen quickly ..... hence, on the same note, dont put ripe bananas in a fruit bowl containing lemons/oranges if u want the nanas to last ....
.... hope this ussless info helps someone!!0 -
Thanks I thought I was useless at choosing a bunch of bananas only to NOW discover that sitting next to the lemon for the G&T!!!!!! was a bad ideaKevponder wrote:Just a quikie ... if u want bananas to ripen quicker than normal, put them near oranges or lemons!! correct me if i'm wrong, but this has something to do with the size/class of banana. you'll find that the smart price bananas are generally smaller and more curved than del monte ones, which is why they are cheaper. The word is BOUGHT, not BROUGHT.
It's LOSE, NOT LOOSE.

We've always bought these smart price bananas and have found nothing wrong with them and often find the Del Monte stickers on them too. It's right that usually they are oddly shaped or too big/small to be in the higher priced section. Also sometimes they are very green or very ripe but well worth buying if your kids eat them like they're going out of fashion!
