Compensation for a fracture finger

I fell at work last year and broke fingers on my right hand. I have never made a claim against an employer (or anyone else) and had no intention of doing so. However, 3 days before Christmas they stopped my pay (even though they had discretion to continue paying me as per the sickness policy). I lost nearly 2 weeks pay for December and had only sick pay for January so guess what - I'm going to make a claim, for lost earnings at least. I have worked for the same employer for 8 years and have never had a day off sick. I've even had maternity leave during that time and was back to work on the very day agreed - no extended sick leave there either. I feel it was very short sighted of them and feel extremely unappreciated. Like others have said, its not a good time to put your head above the parapet with any employer but I don't feel they've left me with much choice.0
