ok i was made redundant yesterday

i went in and lots of people got made redundant..i felt really upset yesterday but i feel a bit more positive this morning, i know i havent been on here long, but you lot make me feel better!

Ive done my CV, just need to work on my personal statement bit...ive got a months pay and ive now got a month to find a job (when u get made redundant at my work you have to leave immediately) so at least i have some time.

I just feel a bit sickly still and i cant help but worry about money.

Ah well that is not good news but at least you are feeling more positive this morning.

Have you thought about joining some recruitment agencies today, so that there could be some temp work while you are lookin for something more permanent? I used Adecco when I left Uni and I found them to be very helpful.
:D Finally decided to start growing up when it comes to money!:j

Sorry to hear you have been made redundant, what kind of work are you looking for, do you drive, do you live in an area where there are likely to be some jobs going? Hope you get something soon so you don't have to worry about money, Martin's budget planner is good for workingout your incomings and outgoings.

If you can't find a permanent job think about temping and try something completely different and keep positive x

Sending you all best wishes for finding work; there are some great people here, and there will soon be someone along with better words than I can offer at the moment (not too bright here, been awake since 4am).

Edit: And there they are, posting away while I was struggling for words.

Sorry to hear your news blondiedebtfree, that is really horrible for you.

There is a redundancy board for advice you can check out, there will be some excellent advice there I'm sure.

The only thing i am lucky about is that i ive only 20 mins from the centre of London so hopefully should still be some jobs around! I work in marketing, was a Corporate Marketing Manager for an IT company, thats the only downfall, is that marketing people are usually the first to go in a recession!

    Edit: quote]

As Hollyberry says, it is a shock to the system. You have suffered the loss of something you valued, depending on how much you enjoyed the job. Not only have you lost a source of income you may have lost part of your social network. Allow yourself to grieve for your loss. Have an MSE wake with family and friends.

Be positive. There is a saying that when one door closes, a window of opportunity opens.

Take care of yourself. Good luck.

Just remember if you start to feel down that it's not you who is redundant, it was your post. Don't let it knock your confiedence.

  • sorry to hear your news. Im losing my job from 9th March. I work for NHS doing admin and as theatre sessions are being reduced there wont be enough work and as i am on 12 month contract i have to leave when it ends. My job is being re advertised as part time but as i live miles and miles away from the hospital its not worth using the petrol.

Im sure something will come up for you soon. Keep your chin up!
