Thanks for this. Just got a prescription for an epipen today after a quick trip to hospital yesterday. Now I just need to find out what I am allergetic to.0

I know exactly how to use an epipen myself - however some of my nearest and dearest don't and are terrified at the thought of ever having to use one on me. My OH in particular has never been around when I've had a severe reaction** and I think this would help reassure him as to how easy epipens are to use.
Fantastic spot. Thank you for posting! :j
** He's just never been there - it's not as if he runs away when I go into anaphylax!;)0 -
For those thinking it was a pen to write with. THIS IS NOT FOR YOU.Survey earnings total 2009 £417, 2010 £875, 2011 £5740

I have an allergy to Nuts and this will be great for me to use if I have a severe allergic attack as my throat closes in and I cant breathe and it goes tight and I remember someone saying about Epipens and were surprised I hadnt got one,but now I will have, thanks OP.A great post.

Hi Katie, just to double check... You are aware that this is a 'dummy' epipen, aren't you? It's to practise on, not to use in an actual emergency.
If you've suffered a really bad allergic reaction before, you should have no problem getting your GP to prescribe you a couple of epipens. Best to get two - one to carry in your handbag and the other to keep at home. Definitely speak to a doctor - an epipen can buy you valuable time when you most need it.0 -
Its also worth training bf/hb or relative to use it too incaseSurvey earnings total 2009 £417, 2010 £875, 2011 £5740
