The boredom of inactivity.

I had quite a long conversation today with one of the women who work in part of the factory. Because orders are down and there's a lot of stock they've pretty much moth-balled the area, reallocated people where they can, and are now just doing odd jobs.

The main thing she said was that the slow pace of work was extremely boring and she missed the motivation that comes from having a lot of things to do.

I think in the last month or so we've all realised that the recession has started for real and it's a waiting game. Multiply that over the whole country and it's a pretty depressing situation.

On the plus side, we both agreed that sitting around feeling worried was not going to achieve anything.

Good to hear you're going to talk about flowers and children's laughter from now on!

It was only a couple of months back that you posted the factory was busy, busy.

The trickle down effect is the horrid bit...it just seeps through everything.

A lot of posters say that their jobs are really secure, but the slowdown filters through to pretty much everything eventually.
Even the bailiffs as newly qualified ones jump in and the business gets spread around.

At some point, the public sector has to feel it as I can't see how the Govt. can just keep on spending up to the max.

I never intended to give the impression that we thought we were immune from an economic downturn, but it is true, 6 months ago we were very busy.

We're still going to talk about what's happening, but it's not going to make us nervous wrecks. Sometimes you just have to take it as it happens. However, planning and mental preparation are important.

That's my new mantra at the moment.

Yes even the Army is on a go slow...what with pulling out of Iraq by July.....

no wait more troops to Afghan

Now what country is next on our list of none believers....mmmmh

I would like to remind people that the Army is currently about 5000+ short of troops so if you fancy a change (ages 16 to 40 odd depending on trade) and like sand...lots of sand we can offer you free travel and a decent pension that will never go down.

and you even get to blow things up*!!

*blowing things up can seriously damage your health, we are trained professionals so don't try this at home.
If you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly

I've only ever been wrong once! and that was when I thought I was wrong but I was right

The problem is that bored young men tend towards violence. That doesn't bode well for the Chinese Government with 20 million supposedly about to become unemployed!
