House Insulation question.

I was under the imprssion that if anyone in your household was to be claiming unemployment benefit, you can have house insulation done free. Is this the case. Our son has just been made redundant. As he lives here, would we qualify?
Keep on trucking!

I would try on either the benefits board, in my home or the fuel board - you will get a better response there.
  • hi,

i previously worked for warm front who do grants for insulation etc. and to qualify it was dependent on the benefits recieved by the homeowner or private tennant and their spouse/partner not inc. others who may live their. Do you recieve any CTC, HB etc. CTC with a household income of under £15,400 will make you elligible.

    Hopee this was some help.

I filled in a questionnaire on housing issues by my local council which included income and suchlike. I was then notified that I qualified for a grant for loft insulation and/or cavity wall (not applicable to my house). I have just yesterday received a letter from warmfront stating that I can have loft insulation installed for £99, the rest paid by grant.

I am not on any benefits and earn below £20k but above the amount stated in the post above.

    Hope this helps.

Oh, It is my son who is unemployed. My husband took early retirement and I work at lunchtime only. We are not entitled to any benefits as we have savings so perhaps we are not entitled to get the free wall insulation. Our loft is adequately sorted.
    Keep on trucking!
  • I have personally only ever handled the main warm front scheme but i would advise contacting the energy advice centre:
    0800 512 012

they could pos. give you information on any other schemes running in your area..i know some local councils have their own help for insulation.

DOn't know if anything will come of it but it certainly cant hurt to check
