£5000?

Listening ot Radio 4s Money Box prog this afternoon with our Martin on it. I was confused when it was said that you have to have a debt of £5000 or more to go BR? I thought it was lot lower? HSBC have petitioned me for £3.5K plus £3K legal fees.

It's £750 for a creditor to make you BR, if you petition yourself there's no minimum.

No - I believe that a debt relief something thats going to be new (eventually) is something like that, debts a max of £5k - its not BR or and IVA, but a different, legal way.

Will look for some further info - theres something on the DFW board.

Yes I was confused when Martin said it was £5K. I had thought it was £750 too.

Just listened and it was the women from National Debtline who said that, not Martin.:eek::eek::eek:

And Administration Order has a legal minimum of £5,000. Perhaps she confused them?

Ah I'm still surprised that Martin didn't correct her, and the presenter repeated it I think. I was driving at the time with half an ear on the radio.

  • Just to back up what has been said you can declare Br for debts for £750 or more, not seen anything in the DRO text to change that so can only assume its the same, unless someone has seen anythin differant, and point us too it
