HELP!!! Home insurance companies who are bankrupt friendly? Urgent!

My attempts to be organised have failed and the contents insurance that I took out and paid in full to start on the 6th is apparently now not willing to accept me as a policy holder even though I told them I was going BR today on the phone at the time. NOT a happy bunny.

Cheque refund on route, but does anybody have any ideas re which companies are friendly and not extortionate? I don`t need massive amounts of cover, but I do need some and I do need it reasonable (oh, and I do need it quick as I`m uninsured from the 6th Feb and no way of paying the damn thing until new bank account actually up and running)

aaargh!

The Co-Operative. Go via Quidco too for cashback. Very competitive quotes to (well, for me anyway).

I did phone them and spoke to an advisor who checked about being BR and they stated that as the question was not asked upon application, it would not be a problem.

Ditto, I'm with the Co-op - did it online, speedy and reasonable.

Yep, I'm with co-op too, and they let me pay in installments :j

  • Spoke to them again as they decided they now couldn`t send me a refund cheque as I`m bankrupt. They tried to sell me a different policy and I said I wasn`t happy to use their company as I`d told them all this on the phone originally.

Asked for details of complaints department as I wished to log a complaint and they are now trying to track the call.

But at present £130 quid down on the deal..... Not recommending quoteline direct to anyone for a while!!

Had a look at co op and it looks cheaper (dammit!) , but now may not have the damn cash to pay the blinkin policy...... aaargh!!

why isn`t anything in life simple?!

    Cheers for info tho folks

Saga are BR friendly and dont mention it anywhere or ask the question. We had my partners mum take out the policy as she lives with us. Cheap too.

Do you have enough money so you can set it up as a monthly DD with the Co-op.

  • if quoteline direct blinkin refund me!! (oh, and if i get new bank account sorted tomorrow!!!)
  • BlackHorse offer a decent cheapish policy and will allow bankrupts to pay monthly. They recently tried to sell me a policy. I said I was BR and that they would turn me down for direct debit payments. They said it wouldn't be an issue and I'm probably going there when my policy expires in April
  • Just got mine through the AA, very helpful and cost of Insurance works out at only £12 pm!! And thats with Accidental Cover too. Did tell them that in process of going BR, and they noted this down, when they got the quotes.

Hi there, i'm with Tescos, £16 per month including accidental damage cover and made one claim in the last 12 months, although that was pre BR i might add.

Checked out their T & C and it doesn't mention anything about BR, so we just haven't mentioned our BR to them and continued paying our direct debit, seeing that as its not in their T & C's we don't see the need.
