Hello all.
My mum heard a recipe on a radio staion which involves a packet of dried French Onion Soup. I can't seem to find it anywhere. Apparently Sainsburys and Waitrose don't stock it. Couldn't find it in Nettos (and no one available to ask!) I really wanna try this meal (Sweet and Sour Chicken). Has anyone any idea where I might get it from.
Thanks in advance.

I'm sure I've seen this in either Tesco or Asda - I remember buying a packet a while back to try a beef casserole recipe. It'd probably be Tesco, and I think it was Knorr?
edit: I don't use the Tesco site so I can't get on there to look, but Ocado have got it here.0 -
Knorr sell one, it is a green packet, called "Soups of the World" I think. I am sure that the Supermarkets do own brand cup a soups also.0

What do you reckon, can it work?0 -
Sounds odd but something I'd try once lol - not sure about the tinned mushrooms though, to me they always look like snails _pale_
Apart from that, I can see it working. Occasionally, when I'm really busy, I use a quick recipe for a 'mexican' chicken that involves tossing chicken in cajun spice, then frying it off before mixing in a sauce made from peach jam and salsa. It sounds weird but it's really tasty, OH will eat it and it takes about fifteen minutes to make and serve with rice - not totally OS but definitely a useful recipe for a quick dinner.0 -
Hooray! Managed to get the soup mix in Tesco. Thanks for the help. We will be trying it tomorrow so I'll keep you updated. The mexican sounds lovely BTW. I might have to try that!0

I use a mixture of Marigold vegetable stock powder and dried onions, both of which are available from Sainsbury's. My late mother's American meatloaf recipe has only two other ingredients - minced beef and a can of unsweetened evaporated milk. The home-made "soup mix" works just as well as the real thing, and the ingredients are much easier to find than onion soup mix these days.0
