Working Tax Credits

not sure if i'm popping this in the correct area?

Ok myself and partner recieving working tax credits.

Does anyone know what amount you can earn in a tax year as a couple to still qualify for tax credits? i heard it was £17000 a year (i am aware they base the benefit on the amount earnt the previous year).

Secondly, if i am then out of work and it is only my partner working, will our working tax benefit go up?

I ask as where i work is closed during Jan and has now gone into February.
I did not tell working tax as didn't want to mess things up just for a month when i was still classed as employed. But as the weeks go on i thought maybe we would have been entitled to a higher amount whilst i have been off work.

Currently my partner has earnt around £4000 this year likely to be around £6000 by 1st April.

I have earned around nearly £5000 this is likely to be under £6000 by 1st April.

So all in all we would have probably earnt in the region of £12,000 during this tax year.

We currently get £88 a week, due to decrease to £75 a week in April.

Any advice would be great as things can be a little confusing. :D
