Loan Advice Please

Hi, im new here and hoping you can help me.

about 18months ago i got a loan from A&L for about 7.5k

2 months into the loan i am made redundant, i take my claim form to the dole office, they stamp the claim form and all is paid by my payment protection. cool!

Now, there was 1 months period when i started work where 1) i couldnt afford to pay the loan payment and the job centre wouldn't sign my sheet becasue i had started to work, i explained this to A&L and they said they would see what they can do.

I started recieving letters telling me to pay the back payments or im going to be defaulted, i called them and explained my situation and they didnt give two hoots, yes we'll try and help, we'll come back to you etc... in the meantime while i tried to sort this they defaulted me, now i have a default on the loan, i blew up at this and told them to shove their loan but as im a responsible type i carried on paying the payments.

My quesiton is, if A&L have already defaulted me, why should i carry on paying the loan? surely A&L have hit me with the most they can hit me with, they have black marked my otherwise exemplorary credit record and other than complain and meither surely there is not a lot else they can do!

can you enlighten me a little on this subject, i am absolutely furious with A&L and would love nothing more than to tell them to shove their loan where the sun doesnt shine!

Thanks

Gary

    Gary,

You have technically defaulted on your loan, but A&L do seem to be being unreasonable.

I suggest you only correspond in writing, say that you think their treatment is unfair, that you plan to continue making payments and addressing the 1 month payment arrears over a reasonable time frame. If they continue to harass you I suggest you report them to the police. If you don't get a satisfactory response to your complaint then escalate it to the ombudsman.

    Good luck

as rafter says write to them etc.

also I would suggest ypu check your credit files to see whether they have defaulted you.. for one missed payment this would seem unreasable..have you received a default notice ..what exactly does it say?

Because you signed a contract to say that you would repay the loan with interest.

You have a good case and I am sympathetic.
