I stick pictures on the front of each box, that way dd (3) knows which box toys go in. It seems to work most of the time.
Thanks to all the lovely people on here I have managed to cut my hours down to 2 days a week, allowing me to spend more time with my gorgeous Children. :j
  • My DH built a wall to wall set of cupboards at the end of our playroom. Doors are important to hide the mess. Like Beautiful Ravens, we had a set of 12 clear boxes, each for a different type of toy eg one box for Duplo, one for Polly Pockets etc. There were also boxes for craft stuff and miscellaneous. We had a tidy up time each night at seven. The children cleared up the toys without supervision into the right boxes. When it was all tidy, there were sweets as a reward. Then it was baths, bed and stories etc. Every so often, I'd go in there and spend the whole day clearing out the used bitsof paper and misfiled toys. It sounds regimented but it worked for us. The excess soft toys were 'lofted'. If they were missed, they came back down. If not, they went to the charity shop.

weve always made it a game to tidy up the toys usually works,if your finding you have to many toys out that dont often get played with why dont you try a rotation system.i tend to pop some away in the loft so they actually play with what they have out then either once week/fortnight ill pack it up and swap it with bits ive put away.i have a tendency to label all my boxes and set out there toys ie the trains/cars or dolls house etc keeps it all together.just try to get it into them (if they are old enough) that once they have finished playing with one toy/set they have to put it away before they can get something else out,it took a while but my 2 girls will do it now.lucky you having a playroom i would love one
