please can anyone help.
i own my own property but would like to remortgage to do improvements. I applied for a barklays morgage with my wife and discovered because of a dispute with a mobile phone company over 100 pounds which i eventualy had to pay, i was refused. I own my own house and only wanted to borrow 30000. Does this now mean i can never get a mortgage?

When you "had to pay" was it a county court judgement which made you pay................................I have put my clock back....... Kcolc ym0

So no mortgage on the property, and you want to raise a £30k mortgage against this?
What is the value of the property?
Ordinarily this really should not be too difficult - how long ago was the dispute with the company?I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. From what you say amortgage should be available.
Classic advice is to try a sub prime option but the rates start from 6%, so if I were you I would first try small Building Societies as they tend to employ Human decision makers and aren't so big that no one is able to take a common sense view.
Start with those in your local area.
Some say Abbey can take a view on such cases to, although I personaly find them very inefficient as they are so large and disconnected.0 -
AT £30k - the OP will not be that rate sensitive anyway - more fee sensitive.
I've had a few cases argued through with Abbey - over small amounts - but did eventually get done.
I suppose it is luck of the draw on who your BDM is and the people around him/herI am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
