Is it just Std Life robbing endowment policies ?

My surrender value has taken a big hit recently by some 2K. I just phoned Std Life who confirmed that they had 're adjusted' their bonuses paid back towards the end of last year. To me that's robbery

Not really. The point about With-profits investments is that they use the idea of "smoothing" which is supposed to even out good and bad times. This creates a time lag between when markets start to fall and you see the effect in your policy value.

We are currently going through an excessively bad time in virtually all markets which started 18 months - 2 years ago. This only started to be reflected in many policies late last year. You can thus expect poor performance for a while.

To me that's robbery

To everyone else its the stockmarket going down, property prices going down and the value of fixed interest securities going down.

Not sure how that can be classed as robbery.
