Help!! 2 quick questions!!

Hi all you lovely people,

I have a couple of questions, planning my BR for end of March, and hope someone can help.

1- Regarding the forms. Self-Employment. They ask about my business, but even though I am classed as Self-Employed, I don't have a business. Basically, I work for an agency at the Airport part time, doing some promotional work. They give me some shifts, and pay me at the end of the month into my bank account, and I have to declare my own tax. I don't have to start putting down the agencies details do I ? As I am self-employed, will they stop me doing it?! I am confused, not even sure that made sense!

2- My creditors. I stopped my payments to CCCS last month, so the creditors will start wondering why they are not getting any money. Should I answer the calls? They are going to be about 3 months out of pocket from me, is 3 months of not paying them too long? Have they got a right to know why I've stopped paying them? I feel like I am in the wrong when they call and I should tell them, but I don't want to speak to them really!

Thank you to anyone who can help clear this up!

What I would do is check any employment contracts you have. If you don't have any contracts, try calling the agency you work through annonymously to see if they know any more.

I wouldn't speak to them if you can avoid it. (Let's put it this way - if they stopped the interest and the charges whilst you were on a DMP through CCCS, you probably wouldn't have found yourself in the position you're in, so I wouldn't feel bad about it at all).

    I hope this helps!

How big are your debts? and to who are they? ive been in your position and know what to do.
the main thing is to keep working,as much as you can.One problem with BR is that is can wear you out and really mess you up and become a horrible distraction. There are other options but it depends on your debt size.

Thanks Davebrum. I'll see if I can dig out a contract, as I did sign one, but no idea where it is. I have a very good friend at work who knows about my situation who also went BR a year ago, so I will ask him what he did. I'll avoid the calls from the creditors for now!

Hi Headache, debts are 26k, to 14 different creditors, some only small ones, but there are still 14 of them, and a lot of them have been passed to other debt collectors now. I just can't cope with the stress of it all!

I would seriously try and avoid BR,it really is horrible,it nearly tipped me over the edge and im a reasonably strong person.
Everything is negotiable in life, even tax debts but the thing to do is to make a plan and sell your proposal to the creditors.
If theres 14 creditors then pay them each £5 per month. They have to accept it.Tell them to accept it otherwise you're going to file for bankruptcy. The thing about store card/credit card and bank debts is that they all get written off after a few years. They're not interesting in chasing you up.
Do that, offer them £5 each per month,if affordable, pay by direct debit and they'll leave you alone. The problem with BR is that its humiliating, the interview, the ad with your name in the paper, all your bank accounts are frozen and it a massive massive drain on your emotions.
Phone them all tomorrow, dont be bullied,be strong and if they refuse tell them you're going to write to head office, and get the persons name so you can include it in the letter.
Seriously, just do all you can to avoid BR,because they'll make you feel like a criminal.

Excuse me Headache but I disagree. Pink has spoken to the debt charities and has had advice that BR is the best option for her. Just because your experiance hasn't been very good it doesn't mean that everyone's experiance is the same.

Thanks for the support Tigerfeet. You're right, I have been advised, after being on a DMP with CCCS for 3 years, that BR is my best option. I have nothing to lose, no assets etc, and I am still going to go ahead with it. thank you x
