  • i dont know if anybody can help me but a family friend died at the weekend and he was receiving an nhs pension from his late wife. i know he had a lump sum and then was getting a monthly payment up until he died. i have had a look around and cant see how to cancel it or if there is any money from it that is to go to his estate. it is mainly down to me to sort out his estate and i dont have much of an idea of what i am doing. i will call in to the cab as soon as i can but was just wondering if i could get some advice from here first.
    thanks in advance:o

Sorry to hear of your loss.

NHS Pensions are dealt with in Fleetwood.

In the first instance you should telephone them on 01253 774774 to notify them of your friends death. You will probably need their National Insurance number or a reference from a pension advice slip to help them identify the correct record. You should do this ASAP to avoid any overpayment pf pension.

You will also need to send them a death certificate to verify the date of death, but once you have spoken to someone on the phone I am sure they will guide you through what needs to be done in respect of this pension.

For future reference, as your post was unrelated to the original subject matter, it might have been better to start a new thread.

    Hope this helps

    Doclodar,
I've fallen in love with Debt_ Free_Chick, I think it's because I have at last found out Mrs. D's pseudonym.

Just like Mrs.D., D_F_C is right, and anyway it's the best pension pot to be in.
It will rise in line with inflation and be waiting for you on retirement.
Now excuse me, I'm going to hide all sharp objects.
