Duplicate entries on credit file

Hi folks, I'm looking for some advice with regards to my credit file.
I have noted that a lender (Freemans - the mail order catalogue) has two accounts on my credit report (entries C1 and C2), both accounts show as starting on the same date (09/03/2003) and both show as being settled on the same date (04/11/2003).
My query is, is this an oversight on their part - the fact that the account is showing twice, hence can I write to them asking for one of them to be removed?
I appreciate that the "settled date" means that the accounts will disappear from my credit file later this year, but in the meantime that extra account could hamper my chances of being accepted for credit if potential lenders see a large number of accounts on my file (every little helps I'm sure).
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
Kind regards,
Graeme

Hi, if it's just a duplicate and you only every had one account with the organisation, just send them a copy of the page that refers to the entry. They will authorise the credit reference office to remove it. But....I would say that if the accounts have both been settled and there are no late payments showing, it will give you a better chance of obtaining credit. Two well run accounts are better than one would say! Hope this helps.0

Hi i have duplicate entries on my credit report from payday express ,i have about 9 some same date some within few days of each other .I have never had a loan of any sort with oayday express but i did do an application but i did it one time and didnt even see that they search my file.
My credit file was just getting better so i am cautious when i search anything, now it looks like i have done lots of loan requests with this company but i have not.
Yest i went on pay day web page and was going thro application just to see where it says they will search your credit file and couldnt see it so logged out then to my horror today it shows they did another search which shows on my credit file .
Help i need to get them all removed0
