Luxuary goods and car prices go up!

Options
In this climate last thing you'd expect is massive price rises on luxuary goods and motors. Rolex have put prices up in the uk 10% and yet go past any rolex stockists and the window displays are full as nobody is buying anything. Have also heard gm motors are increasing prices in the uk.

Have heard reasons behind these increases are due to sterling collapsing. So our goods are now shifting to the euro price hence some of the rises.

A bad time to be a jewelry or car salesman.

  • The collapse of sterling will mean that prices will 'go up' in terms of cost price to companies. However companies are having to reduce prices in the recession, e.g. 1 car retailer was going '2 for 1' on new cars!

It sounds better when you reduce a product if it was more expensive before.

Price rises will help companies look bullish but help people think they've got even more of a bargain when they cut the price. I'm thinking more of Ford and Vauxhall than Rolex; that just makes Rolex more exclusive and the price rise helps make up for lost sales. If you want a Rolex and can afford one 10% isn't going to kill you.
Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
  • I'm loving all the discounts that restaurants are offering at the moment. Places like La Tasca, Pizza Express, etc are offering some great deals!

Some models have gone up 27% in the last 9 months. Just wish my pay went up like that.
  • Doesn't affect me. I drive old bangers and have no sense for luxury at all.

An art perfected by the supermarkets especially Tesco.
