Hi, I am looking for some information on on-line divorces, namely has anyone done one?
Was it easy?
How much did it cost?
Any recommendations as to which sites to use, or stay away from?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Yeah, I have done a search on google and loads of sites pop up, all promising quick, cheap and painless, and a few reviews from newspapers as well, including the times all look good, but i want some firsthand advice really before i waste some money!
Always worth asking though, you never know!0 -
you need to be very organised and amicable for an on-line divorce.
if you can both agree on asset splitting, child access, maintenance etc a divorce with a good solicitor can cost less than £1000.My ex and I managed this and we hated each other!!0 -
If it's all amicable, you can collect the divorce forms from the court office or print them off from HM courts service website.
If you are struggling filling the form in, court office staff will help but obviously they won't give legal advice.
If you do it that way, all you will have to pay are the statutory court fees (unless on certain benefits), and it will save you some money. Here I go again on my own....0 -
Has anyone got an idea how much it will cost?0

I used one called divorce online - they had a variety of packages.
My ex and split up amicably (ish), we agreed everything, including maintenance and access, so did not see the point in engaging solicitors.
I did see a solicitor but they were only interested in getting me to get as much as possible from my ex, therefore using their services lots.
Basically the online service allowed us to download forms and told us when to take them to the court, there was a 24 hour help line.
It was all straight forward and everything was sorted for about £100.
I also used the same site when I wante to change my name via deedpoll.0 -

My partner has gone down the route of printing the forms from the HMCS website as recommended by Becles.
It cost £300 (these are the basic court fees and will only reduce if you are on benefits)to lodge the first papers and will cost a further £40 for the Decree Absolute (4 weeks away yippee!!)
As other posters have stated, it needs to be amicable, but you would have to be anyway to go through an online divorce. In my partner's case there was a child,(paying CSA) but no property and the forms were confusing at first but there is loads of advice on the HMCS website to help you. All the online people are doing is charging you to help fill in the forms.0 -
Didn't do it online, but we did to it DIY, I'm not entirely sure how much it cost, my ex paid, but it wasn't much, the court costs, and I think he paid £80 to a solicitor to give the forms the once over before he submitted them to court.
It was all very simple, even including children and property. But I have to reiterate what others have said, to do is easily and cheaply it has to be amicable.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0
