Availability: usually dispatched within 1 to 2 weeks. Amazon are notorious for taking a lot longer than this. Very good price though and they might deliver sooner, who knows.

These disks are £17.99 on Panasonics own website + delivery

so a good saving of £6+ per pack. I am waiting delivery of my DVD recorder so am new to DVD-RAMs... but what is the use of a double sided DVD-RAM? Just to have 1 disk instead of 2? The recorder can't record on both sides without turning it over can it (I presume not)? On the Panasonic site it says the double sided DVD'RAMS come with a caddy... what is the caddy for?

The main benefit of having the double sided disks is the storage space. The main disadvantage, as far as I can see, is the extra careful handling required to avoide damage to either side of the disk. This is where the caddy comes in handy as it protects the disk from handling and, when not in use, the sliding flap prevents dust accumulating on the disk.

I much prefer the caddy type and use the double sided disk but they are quite a bit more expensive.

Please be careful if buying these disks. They do, at first, look like a great deal. However, I bought three triple-disc packs of these (non-caddy) from the Panasonic site a couple of months ago and they were rejected by my Panasonic DMR-E50 dvd recorder. I sent them back for a full refund.

I also investigated this further and found that other people had the same issue. I believe this is why they are cheap! I did not read about any adverse reactions with any other dvd recorders, so it may be worth the risk for some of you.

Incidentally, one of the things I read was that Panasonic had recommended Maxell discs to one complainant! Seems a bit weird that a hardware manufacturer should recommend someone elses discs over their own!

I seem to remember the DMR E50 had problems because it's to do with these being 3 times speed, or something like that.
    Nice to save.

Of the handful of things I've ordered from Amazon, they've all been on Supersaver delivery like this and they've all taken well under a week. I think the Distance Selling Regs insist they must take 28 days or less (or offer you the right to cancel).
Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.
