Cheapest place for bread flour?

Bought some from tescos, but worked it out and it will cost the same to make the bread rolls as to buy them. Granted homemade should be nicer...

So I'm guessing I should find cheaper flour (mine was around 95p from Tesco)

I always get mine in ASDA for 48p. It always makes lovely bread.

  • oh thank you. There's isn't actually an asda near me, but I was in one last week and they didn't have any in stock. Will ask a friend nicely to pick me some up :)

I've just looked on the Tesco website and 1.5kg white bread flour is 68p  I'll move this to the Shop Don't Drop board where you may get more replies.

I find that for my breadmaker I need vitamin C to get a nice loaf. I used Lidl flour which had it already added, so that worked out fine. But now the flour has gone up in price it's reported. Asda flour would be cheaper, but probably not after I add Vitamin C. So, is it possible to get good bread from a breadmaker without "flour improver" by adjusting technique. Or is there a cheap source for Vitamin C (powdered)?

Lidl flour used to be around 50p for 1.5kg.
In Sainsburys, last time I looked it was 79p for 1.5kg.
Flour prices have gone up a lot since I started buying bread flour for my breadmaker.
