I wanna new torch

I want to get myself a decent torch, but what type do I buy?

I am happy to spend about £20 getting a good torch but I have seen the following types and cannot make my mind up which is the best:
  • Xenon torch?
  • LED torch?
  • Maglite torch?
Can anyone tell me which are the best?

Really depends on what /how you use a torch.
My Maglite is indestructible but must remember to keep some spare batteries.
Have a cheap large rechargeable plugged in the garage.

Also a wind-up sits in the draw. Notice that the windup gets more use.

LED torches are much better nowadays. Filament bulb/Xenons suck up batteries. If you want a general purpose LED torch then Tesco sell maglite lookalikes:

    AA cell LED 3w £12ish
    C cell LED 3w £16ish
    D cell LED 4w £20ish

They seem to be clearing stocks of them so prices posted above are what I remember buying them at - but are probably much cheaper. It depends on what you want the torch for and the size of it.

I'm a complete torch ho as I'm a caver. I think I have in the region of 12 headtorches, 40 hand torches and my piece de la resistance - a £400 Scurion headtorch!
