Porting A Mortgage

Hi,
We currently have a mortgage with the Abbey which is portable. We are currently in the process of selling our home and would like to port our mortgage. Is this a fairly straight forward procedure? We are not looking to borrow any additional money and we should be looking to have a 60% deposit. Would they need to do any credit checks and see bank statements, etc, etc?
Thanks in advance.

yes they would do credit checks, each lenders portabiity criteria varies, so give them a ring and check out ie if u dont secure new property immediately, how long does the portabity option remain for etc........0
