Any 3 for 10 pound offer problem

Don't know if this has happened to anyone else. Went into Asda on Sunday and saw that there were a variety of packs of pork, lamb and chicken portions on offer - any 3 packs for 10 pounds. Got a pack of bacon, pork chops and a whole chicken. They all had a 'Any 3 for 10 pounds' sticker on them. After the check-out, I noticed the discount had not been taken off the receipt. You can only check this after you've finished at the check-out in Asda because offers are deducted from the total, doesn't show when the individual item beeps.
I then went to customer services to query this. The SA called someone from the meat section, who said that the items were on different promotions. When I argues that as a customer, I wouldn't have know that, as I was just going by what was printed on the product, the SA said that I had picked up the chicken from a different shelf. I had, but this was because I thought that the 'Any 3 for 10 pounds' sticker applied to all products in the meat section. I am sure that I picked up the same three items a few weeks back in a similar promotion and there weren't any problems. The SA then got quite huffy and said that there were lots of BOGOF in the store, but it didn't mean you could go round the store and mix and match them. I am well aware of that. However, I just assumed that all the meat products with the same sticker would have been in the same promotion.
Has this happened to anyone else? I am still annoyed by it, because I only really wanted two out of the three products, but only got the third one because it was in the promotion. I know... suckered into their marketing plan. Anyway, as a matter of principle, I got a refund on all three products and went next door to Lidl to get a chicken and pack of bacon for much much less, even without a promotion.

Bacon would not be included in a promotion with fresh meat, eg lanmb, beef, pork and poultry.0

I always check my receipt with those sort of offers , as I had a similar thing happen with some Original Source shower gel which was buy any two and get one free in
Morrisons. It turns out that there are some differences in the range of the shower gels although they are the same price and I was charged for all three, as one type wasn't included. I was only buying them because they were on offer.
Luckily I noticed as I had only gone in for a loaf and so the extra I was charged was obvious. If I had done a big shop I might not have noticed.0 -
It wasn't the bacon that was the problem, it was the whole chicken. That's what the SA said.0

Surprised at that, because bacon comes under fresh foods as opposed to fresh meat. It seems you really have to do your homework before going to checkout.0 -
I had the same problem with their own washing up liquid - any two for £1 plastered all over the shelves, but the offer did not come off on my receipt. Went to Customer Skirmishes and marched with CSA to shelf - turns out that only certain colours/fragrances were included but the shelves were very subtly arranged to fox you into assuming all types were included.
I therefore changed one bottle to the correct variety and got them to give me a refund of the difference, as it did not really matter what colour washing up liquid I had, but it was a lot of bother and I couldn't ask for the £2 gift card as technically it was my mistake for not studying the shelves and display more comprehensively, not theirs!
I sometimes wonder if they are out to mislead the busy shopper doing his/her weekly shop in a limited amount of timeA chicken crossing the road is poultry in motion0 -
I've found Asda to be the worst for this sort of thing, for example they do an offer of three bottled ales for £4 and for some reason just one of the whole range they had there (all the same price) wasn't in the offer. Thankfully the customer service desk person realised stating over and over "this one's not in the offer" wasn't getting anywhere and refunded the 50p difference.0

Had same thing happen in Asda with cereal bars, offer didnt go through till. Customer services said i needed to buy equal amounts of same variety rather than different ones and one i had purchased was not included - i had made sure i read the label properly and that it corresponded, CS lady went off to shelf leaving me at the till to say she was definitely right OH had followed her and watched her pluck the label from the shelf so challenged it and got the goods that time and a refund. If in doubt take a pic on your mobile to back up what your saying, if it is blatantly written that all types of item are included in offer then they are in the wrong by interpretting it as they wish.:j Was married 2nd october 2009 to the most wonderful man possible:j
