Looking for a mini sewing machine

Hi all, I'm looking for a mini/compact sewing machine for doing simple stuff like hemming, turning collars, patching, repairs etc. I'm not looking to get into dressmaking!
I've seen some online but none seem to have particularly good reviews and I wondered if anyone had any recommendations. Or it's back to the 'wundaweb'!

They don't get good reviews for good reason....they are rubbish.
I have had two of these type of machines in the past, and they are not worth the money.0 -
They are not great, shopping around might get you a cheaper proper machine for £40 or so, if you can afford it its a great investment, really handy to have about.Bump due 22nd September0

I agree with the others, they are total rubbish. You will start to see them on car boot sales come spring as people are realising it. I love a car boot sale and its the same with foot spa s, every car boot sale i have ever been to has had at least one on it and the other thing is chocolate fountains. What a waste of money, all the ones bought for Christmas will be there alongside the sewing machines etc.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Although they are no where as good as the full size machines, as my hand sewing leaves a lot to be desired I find having a small machine fine for hemming trousers, making cushions and simple things like that, and it takes up hardly any space! paid about £40 from the usual laminated book of wonder! Only negative thing is that it can't cope with too many layers of/ or thick fabric...which it states in manual. If you have the space for a full size and sew regularly then get one but havent had any real problems with my mini one! hope this helps just wanted to balance the reviews a bit as wouldn't completely write off, just depends on what you want it for!0
