One thing's for sure you certainly won't come to any harm if you eat sour cream that has been frozen.
However you may find that its texture alters when it defrosts. It depends what you want to do with it. If you were adding it to a hot sauce or mixing it with other ingredients then no problem, but if you want to dollop it on a baked potato it might not be up to scratch. My advice is try it and see;)0 -
I freeze sour cream in an ice cube tray then use it to make coleslaw so it gets whisked up with vinegar, mustard, teeny bit of sugar and a bit of mayo and its perfect.
It definately is a different texture so I wouldn't put it on burritos or spuds0 -
Thanks, it will be for mixing in a goulash- type- beef casserole at the end of cooking. Sounds like it will be OK then.0

I use frozen soured cream for cooking, and also for mixing with chocolate to make a ganache-type filling/icing for cakes.0

I keep a small carton of double cream in the fridge - as a milk substitute for my dad and son who can't cope with the protein in milk. When I want sour cream I just pour out as much as I want and add a bit of lemon juice and let it sit for 5 minutes.Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants - Michael Pollan
