Summer Work Placement

Hi everybody,

The current economic climate is bad to put it nicely. Thousads have lost there jobs, so what I'm going to ask is going to sounds really rude. Please don't take any offence from what I am about to say.

I'm currently at University and working part-time. But now im in my second year, i want to do a summer placement, to improve my chances of getting a job when i finish. Im studying business and accounting and looking to get a high 2:1 or a 1st.
I understand companies are finding it tough to keep there own staff never mind take on people like me. But I was just wondering if anybody knew of or works at a place that does take on under-grads for work placements.

Thanks for your help. JP

    I know a lot!

But you don't state where you are in the country or where you are willing to travel to.

    Lol, that might help, sorry.

I live just outside birmingham, so, birmingham, leicestershire, warwickchire, etc. Closer the better but im not being fussy, any where with in around 75 miles, I have a car so not really a problem.

    Thanks JP

What type of field are you interested in?

Large accounting firms tend to have a summer placement scheme so try their websites

Check with your uni careers office if they can help you find one

Visit the next careers fair at your uni and ask companies if they offer placements

If you can't get a paid placement try and get a voluntary one the experience will be very helpful in the future - also if you are interested in going onto an accounting graduate scheme start applying as soon as the 2010 positions (assuming 3 year course?) appear on the websites some might even be there now
  • I have seen some listed lcally on the reed.co.uk website
    £2 Savers club £0/£150
    1p a day £/
