    Well said Rick62,
The OP needs to contact his lender and ask
And many people who do retire to the sun end up back in britain as soon as they have health problems.

I am interested in this also... (embarrassingly just posted a similar thread! Although I have equity and am not moving abroad).

I wouldn't consider doing anything without the permission of my mortgage company (or anything illegal).

Does anyone have experience of IF giving "consent to let"?

If it doesn't work out, we would have to consider remortgaging with another company on a BTL mortgage. I am not a HUGE fan of IF, but was considering staying because a mixture of:
    - hassle factor and cost of changing mortgages
    - IF have the offset feature (not many other lenders do)
    - we do not need to move (and rent out) for 7/9/12 months. If we moved mortgage lender we would either have to go straight to BTL (and move out straight away) or remortgage as a residential mortgage and then swap to BTL in 7/9/12 months (more hassle and cost?). Staying with IF would give more flexibility.

i looked into this with my old house incase it didnt sell, the coventry BS allow it, for a 12 month period initially and you then need to ask again the next year. they insisted on certain things like insurance changed and proof of new insurance and they also wanted to charge £299 for 'changing' my product although it wouldnt have actually changed.

You can understand why Posters use the term Lie to Buy.

Wonder how Rick62's compliance would view this "suggestion"

I like the use of kid gloves rather than knockout blows but thanks for your support.
