Has anyone done ITQ with LearnDirect?

I registered with my local LearnDirect centre to do an ECDL as something to beef up my CV.
After passing the initial literacy and numeracy tests the advisor told me today I shouldn't do ECDL and must do an ITQ instead
I'm unemployed so time isn't too much of an issue but can anyone tell me how it works - are we talking months of study?

Hi
Ok what you will be doing is the Clait and Clait plus qualification (plus 2 other sections) in an NVQ format which is going to give you similar training to the ECDL (that can take a long time to complete) you will then get an NVQ in ITQ, Clait qualification, and a Clait plus qualification- 3 qualifications in 1.
It should take less time that the ECDL to complete and you wont have to pay as much to do it. What has happened recently is the funding that LD get isn't there for the ECDL (to be able to offer it for free) but it is for the ITQ (hope this is making sence)
Have a look here http://itq.e-skills.com/Introducing-ITQ/2017 it should give you more info on what the course is about.

Thanks so much Niki, sounds like you're in the know (more so than the advisor at my local LD centre!)
Reading the link, it seems as if the ITQ requires assessment of files created in a job setting - in my case would the LD staff give me a hypothetical workplace and then mark my coursework themselves?0 -
Hi Purpleducky
Thats right you will do some work based assessments, what might happen is they will set up some work experience for you - it might be in the center or else where.
The assessor will assess your work - the assessor will normally be from another center but not necessarily.
This is part of my job telling people about the NVQs that are on offer at ld.
Hope it helps you.

Okeydokey, thanks for the info:beer:
I was a bit worried about it taking many months (as when I found a job I'd have to abandon it halfway through or try to get slots at LD for a Saturday) but if it takes less time than the ECDL anyway I have nothing to lose!0 -
Better than that - you can still do it when you get a job as it is an internet based course and as long as you have internet access at home (or anywhere) you can still do the course. the courses are very flexible!

Ah marvellous! I thought I'd have to carry on going to the centre three times a week; doing some from home will be much easier.0

You can do it any time from home as soon as you have your LD id and password! So you can sit at home and have a good cup of tea and continue your courses!purpleducky wrote: »Ah marvellous! Good Luck with your courses
