"Thurrock is leading the way with helping the environment ... from your car.
It can be difficult keeping your vehicle tidy and preventing litter from escaping into the street, but on Friday, 13 February, 100 free car bins will be given away to residents at the Morrisons store in Grays.
Thurrock is the first council in the UK to run the scheme, which makes the bins available at £3.50 each after the give-away.
Cllr Steve Veryard, Cabinet member for Environmental Services said: "Keeping our streets clean has always been priority so we are happy to give away some free car bins.
"The bins are useful as they have a double waterproof lining and an easy installation strap. They also store away neatly and are easy to empty and use again and again.
"Thurrock Council thanks Morrisons in Grays for their support and Toomeys in Orsett for donating the Citroen C1 to be used for the display."
Cllr Veryard says he would encourage residents who are interested to come along to Morrisons after 11am on 13 February with a proof of residence, for example a gas bill or council tax receipt and if they are one of the lucky first one hundred, get a free bin.
