NCO Europe

Have got a message from NCO Europe asking me to call them.

We don't have any outstanding credit so am wondering what they want.

I googled them as some say they act for PayPal, but I have been into my account today and I don't owe anything as I haven't used eBay for a very long time and I made sure my fees were paid promptly when I did use it.

Does anyone know who else they may act for? Scratching my head as to what they can want me for!

If this is in the wrong place, perhaps a kind soul can move it to the right place please?

  • Hi,

I have received a letter from NCO Europe (Old Docks House, 90 Watery Lane, Preston PR2 1AJ, fax 0121 733 3154) today dated 4th Feb 09 and headed "****** BREACH OF AGREEMENT ******". It tells me I have "failed to remit my monthly payment in accordance with (their) agreement" to eBay! The sum they are asking for is £8.00.

I find this rather strange as I use eBay only sporadically, and I paid the £9.26 balance off in full a couple of weeks ago. The "eBay account number" at the top of the letter appears to have been conjoured out of thin air too, and certainly bears no resemblance to anything I can find in the "My eBay" area. My eBay seller account balance currently stands at zero.

    What to do?

    Dave.
  • I received this letter too, same date, same amount and only a fax number and address. I tried ringing NCO who passed me from department to department then cut me off. On my final attempt I started talking to someone who then transferred me to voicemail halfway through a sentence! The only thing I found out was that the reference number was not valid

I have been ignoring nco for a few years now ;) they have just sent another letter this week for £700

They have no power to take you to court.

    Ignore it :p
    cool :D
  • NCO Europe are a bunch of jokers!
I had a card through my door saying MR P BROWN will be calling if this is inconvenient please call us. When i contacted them they said they were working for orange and i had an outstanding debt with them (i didn't) they refused to listed to any thing i had to say - were extreamly rude then hung up on me. I contact orange who have confirmed that i do not have an outstanding debt with them and have never heard of a company called NCO and they do not work for them!.
Today i have had a letter again saying i will be going to court if i do not pay the bill in 72 hours. Again i called them to be verbally abused over the telephone, when i asked for their Company registration number and Licence number so i could report them they hung up, after calling them back i was told it had all been a big mistake and orange had confirmed i never owed them anything! what a surprise. i will be making a formal complaint but i doubt it will get anywhere!

I got the card also from MR P BROWN, he sounds like a very busy person. (if he does really exist!).

I have no idea what it's about but I think I do owe Ebay about £6 so it could be to do with that. :)

Mr P Brown sent a card to my house today, addressed to the previous resident. I'm sending it back, RTS, as I do with all his post, but I just wondered if NCO are likely to turn up anyway?

  • Hi Everyone,

I was looking at everyones comments about NCO and they deal with other companies as well as Ebay/Paypal. I have an outstanding balance with Orange (the mobile network provider) and they have been hounding me too for this! I have been working with the Citizens advice bureau for debt management and they had been in touch with Orange in April 09 regarding my outstanding balance and they never responded to CAB and passed my account onto NCO to manage my debt. I have repeatedly told Mr Brown!! or whatever they like to call themselves that I am working with citizens advice and I cannot pay the balance in full. So they issued me with a 72 hour notice!! I had this stopped but as I have had no reply regarding my agreed repayment as I do not have another appointment with CAB until july 10th so I cannot commit to anything.

They are rude, ignorant and do make you feel like a second class citizen so if you do have any correspondence from them, do not ignore it. Check it out cos it might not be your paypal account they are contacting you about.

They do not seem to record on my account what I repeatedly tell them about CAB so the thought has crossed my mind that they have got hold of my details and are trying to scam me out of my money but as i have had no correspondence from orange about it either, i dount that that is likely but if anyone has had a similar experience to me please let me know!!!

  • Just over a month ago my girlfriend had a call from NCO Europe. They stated she owed £4000
we kept asking who the debt was with. They gave an account number which they said was with Barclays bank. We contacted Barclays who said she did not owe at first
then 3 calls to them later 1 of the calls people said it was from a Woolich account it was an overdraft. My girlfriend has never had a letter of debt from them.
NCO threatened her with bankruptcy and bayliffs, so much so she signed up to pay £25 a week off. (under the stress of calls)
We then went to CAB who told us to send letters recorded delivery to ask to explain the debt and proove what it was for. Which we have sent two.
Lloyds seem to say we cannot cancel the debit from going out, My girlfriend has even cancelled her card and got a new one the money is still going out. I then contacted NCO to cancel the money from going out, but i doubt they will. Will find out on friday next week.
They also said they have not received the letters we wrote although they have signed for them (he blamed it on a different department).
We also ran 2 credit checks on My girlfriend to see there was no debts, nothing shows up.
We seem powerless to do anything these people seem beyond the law.
Fortunately we have call barring on the mobile phone they try and contact her on so we just block each number. Though they do have our landline number, i feel as the money is going out they are not hassling us at the mo.
I will record each call from now on if any use.
If somebody could help us we would appreciate it this feels like daylight robbery and there are no laws to prevent it.
Do we have any rights at all.
