tried to remove partner from joint acc

Just been into the Natwest bank to remove partner off the account and they said 'no' Basically there is a loan and overdraft connected to the account which they have tried to take payment for the loan out but because neither of are wages are paid into that bank anymore there wasn't enough funds available which has taken us over the overdraft.
She advised me to speak to CCCS again then come back in. So all she has done is a put a stop to the account. Doesn't really make any difference as neither of us use the account.
The form which we filled in just got handed back to me. Basically if she sent it off to Leeds HO it would just get declined.
I want to remove him so when I go bankrupt the od gets written off so he doesn't stand the cost of it. I understand that the joint loan will be past over to partner which we don't have a problem with paying.
Any advice what to do now? Felt like saying I'm going bankrupt but thought better of it.
Very stressed at the moment, fed up of the phone ringing as I haven't paid any billls since October as just don't have the funds so I've pulled the phone out of the socket. Even changed mobile no as so sick of them hounding me. In one day I had 7 messages on the answermachine from Lloyds Tsb. Surley that's harrassament?

If you have an OD on the account, then no there is nothing you can do, they will not take a person off. I am afraid your DH will be responsible for the OD when you go BR. He will be responsible for repaying any joint debts that you have. SorryBSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0

correct me someone if i'm wrong but if the account is on the OD then you'll be unable to take a name of a joint account.....the OD wont be written off in your BR your OH will be responsible for the lot i'm afraid

Hi csi, That is precisely the reason they don't let you take off someone's name when there is an overdraft. Can't blame them for that. I can sympathise with the phone calls. Been there, done that, still have the scars!
It will get better. Glad you changed your mobile. One creditor even phoned my daughter on her mobile and she was sitting in her class at school!
