Hello all, just a quick query.
I left my job in October with a new one to go to a week later which fell through, I had a few weeks not working then did some temporary work up until Christmas.
I have got another job which starts in a few weeks, there will be no problems with this start date.
I am just wondering If I can claim anything for the time I have been off so far/the next couple of weeks till i start the new job? Bearing in mind I am not actually seeking work now as I have some lined up.
I was not going to bother but the bills are mounting up a bit now and anything would come in handy.
Thanks in advance.

generally you can't claim retrospectively unless you have a very good reason (didn't think you would need it is not good enough)
You can claim for now, it'll take time for the claim to come through, and wyou will need to show you are looking for a f/t job until you start your new job.Debt free 4th April 2007.

Why not look for some temp work - it would pay more than JSA in any case and if you are not seeking a job you can't in all honesty claim Jobseekers Allowance.0 -
I am going to agencies everyday looking for temp work but it is all temp to perm which they won't put me forward for because I have a permanent job lined up.
I know that I am not seeking work anymore. I just wondered if the fact that I have paid taxes and NI for the last 20yrs would mean anything.
Obviously not. And they wonder why people are saying this country has gone to the dogs.0 -

That is harsh. If you had claimed at the outset, you probably would have been supported. We'll never know because you chose not to.Debt free 4th April 2007.
