Year book ideas

I have started a year book for my young son and my next child (due Apr)

I was going to write down special events and trips out, Collect photos of these events and also save newspaper cuttings of big news events in the hope that each year they will have a yearly book of their lives.
Does anyone else do anything similar or have any other ideas of what to add or the best way to display these items

I thought I could also add prices of basic items, loaf of bread, tin of beans etc, trends and toys

One thing I am starting this year is - whenever we go somewhere I am going to buy a postcard of that place then write on the back what we did - think i will make them into a scrapbook eventually

Brilliant idea! I've done similar for a Christning present and also my brother's 30th (prices then were really interesting, as were the fashions, toys etc). A fantastic book to keep forever.

For the Christening book I bought a white album type book and stuck my bits and bobs on the pages, leaving a page for handprints.

For my brother's book I bought an A4 folder from Wilkos (about £1.50 I think) that is full of plastic pockets that you can pop pages in so they are protected.

    Good luck :D

Brilliant idea. I never thought of anything like that all those years ago but since doing my family history its made me realise how important it is to pass memories on so I've written pieces about members of the family that my children never knew, about places we went on holiday before they were born then continued it on to almost present day............afraid I got a bit lapse a few years back.
Particularly interesting when you look at the price of things, what the weather was like, all that sort of stuff
Good luck with it. I'm trying to do similar for baby grandson and want to do one every year for him.:j
