Best place to get Scottish Widows personal pension?

Hi,

My work doesn't have a company pension, instead they will pay into a personal pension of my choice.

I think I want a Scottish Widows personal pension but am unsure how to set it up. Do I need a IFA, can I apply directly? Alternatively I could apply through Lloyds TSB but have heard this is not a good way of doing it, is that true?

Any advice would be much appreciated :-)

Thanks

Going through an IFA may well be the best way. Do you know anything about chossing the funds to put inside the pension?
    can I apply directly?

This is the worst way as it will be the dearest.

Going via the bank would not be a good way. You will usually get the cut down version and an IFA would be cheaper and offer the full retail version.

Which Scottish Widows pension were you after? The Stakeholder, Personal Pension or retirement account?

Cavendish dont retail the Retirement account on execution only basis. Just the stakeholder and PPP. It is expected that the retirement account will end up being the only Scot Wid plan. Although that isnt likely to happen until 2012 when rule RU64 is likely to be abolished.
