After checking out the options of the ways to grow potatoes at home.
I came across the website www.kmgrow.co.uk for £18.90 (including p&p)thay have sent me 3 varieties of potatoes with 3 re-usable bag to grow them in, so I have started them in doors and will put them out in the yard when the weathers more suited. when I have had my crop of potatoes I will still have time to plant them up again to get a second crop.

There is more sites doing potato kit but check out the P&P as some are almost double in price!!!!!!!:cool:

Three black bin liners and some seed potatoes from the £1 shop and a bag of compost does exactly the same job. I did this last year and it worked great.

Never tried it myself, but you can plant old potatoes that are starting to shoot and they are just as good.

We've done this many times without a problem; getting a great crop of potatoes in return from old spuds we would have had to bin otherwise.

The people who sell seed potatoes say you shouldn't do it (something about disease or pests or something, but I must admit that I'm sceptical that that's because they want to sell you some!)

Anyway - it's always worked well for us!

Ive got my 1st earlies chitting as we speak - depends on the variety. Not sure when you plant the ones that you get in the shop though. Im new to this so following instructions, so curious when people suggest to chit/plant shop brought potatos.

Try your local allotment shops they are really cheap and anyone there will give you plenty of advise.

also wilkinsons sell them cheaply and pooundshop as already mentioned, you pays your money and takes your choice. It's not recommended to keep on using your own shop potatoes as blight can build up, like in the irish famines.
