Transferring pension money into own account

Can anybody give me any idea how to go about this in a nice way. A relative of mine collects my nans pension for her, but has been taking money out and putting it into their own account. My nan as got the onset of alzheimers so has no idea about her money. Is this illegal what they are doing?

Theft is illegal if that is what you are asking so you could inform the police.
With onset dementia it is sensible to have a LPA or EPA or court appointed deputy. Who is appointed if anyone for "nan"?0 -
Thank you for your replies, sorry to sound naive what is LPA or EPA?0

It means 'power of attorney' which is where an elderly or ill person signs over responsibility for their money to another, trustworthy person.
However, as your relative already has alzheimers, she would be unable to do this now as you have to be in your 'right mind' to do it.
What you are asking is not a pension question anyway, it's a legal matter and if you are correct, it is theft.0 -
Are you sure they aren't taking any sort of carer's allowance that is paid to your nan to be passed on to the carer?
Or getting her groceries for her and so taking the amount they have spent on her behalf?working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0
