Tooth Whitening

Hi i have been using tooth whitening trays for two weeks but do not see any difference.Does anyone know how long it usually takes to see a difference

I'm in a similar position but a little further forward as I have completed my two weeks and had two, in surgery power boosts. Half of each tooth is white but there is a definate line. I complained to my dentist and after telling me I'd done things wrong (I did exactly as I was told) gave me another two weeks worth to use at home.
I'm concerned that the additional bleaching agent will damage, or at least irritate my gums and that this too may not be successful. I don't know what I should do then.
It would be interesting to hear if the product is the same. Can you PM me with the system you are using.

I would say the trays bought from chemists do not work as they have very low levels of peroxide in them. I buy crest/cologate strips from abroad containing 30% peroxide which will bleach your teeth in 2 weeks. I've stopped using them due to my pregnancy but I did see a difference although I suffered from tooth sensitivity quite badly. Also I get a lot of comments on how white my teeth are, I used to smoke, so they have made an improvement on the yellow colour that they used to be.

There many tooth whitening products claim to be safe there can be consequences for using them. First of all ask around and get testimonials from others who are using either tooth whitening products at home or have had professional tooth whitening done at their dentist's office.

There's an odd law in the UK about high peroxide tooth whiteners only being able to be sold through actual surgery dental practices. So the best thing to do is pay extortionate prices at a dentists or buy something like Crest Whitestrips from ebay, they're the best selling dental product in America and I've found it's worked.

Tooth whitening is safe if used in the right time frame and not overprocessed.

If you can find someone going to the US or Canada soon get them to bring you back Crest Whitestrips - they now also do an advanced seal version which are more powerful - you should use them only once (use the whole pack that is) in 12 months and they are supposed to be non slip (which is one of the challenges of the other ones.

I buy everytime I'm in the US and I also buy Crest Whitening toothpaste and either Crest or Scope whitening mouthwash just to maintain my gleaming gnashers. I've never found anything here in the UK which comes close to being as effective as the US/Canadian ones
