Hoping DD will follow in my OS footsteps

For the first time ever, DD asked to make her own dinner! :D She'll be 10 this month, and has never really been interested in cooking up until now.

But this afternoon she asked if she could cook dinner for her and her brother (3 y/o). Of course i said yes!

So in a baking dish she put a can of tinned tomatoes, a splodge of tomato puree, 1tsp mixed herbs, a chopped garlic clove, 1 vegetable stock cube, & 1 and a half tins (used tomato tin) of water. Then she mixed in a couple of handfus of dry pasta, stirred well and stuck it in the oven.

15 mins before it's cooked she's going to grate some cheese over the top. Oooh i hope she takes an interest in cooking, and OS-ing! It'll help her no end in the future :D

Anyone else have an aspiring OS-er child?

DD1 (14) is very MSE/OS ........ she has a monthly allowance for her own clothes (not school uniform) and leisure, and has become very adept at not buying anything she can possibly get me/OH to buy for her, instead...... !

Seriously - both DDs seem to have reasonably sensible MSE heads on their shoulders, and expect to make/bake at home rather than buy in etc. In fact, DD1 is at this very moment stencilling her name / HM design on a basic white Argos rollerblind, 'cos she couldn't see one she liked in the budget range and doesn't want to pay over the odds for a posh one for her redecorated room !

Keep them at it and cultivate any OS behaviours they show - they'll thank you for it further down the line !
