Competition Advice Needed

Hello all,
sorry if this is the wrong board but didnt know which one to post it on, I need some advice. My mum won the competition below ( a holiday to Alberta Canada )
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1304671&highlight=alberta%2C+canada
The problem we have is that she has picked the dates she wants to go but now Virgin have told her that the prize exceeds there prize amount of £2600 so they want my mum to pay the difference
I have told her to go back to SKY who hosted the competition as I find it very bad that they are trying to charge her for part of the prize
She knows she has to pay for any insurance/additional travel etc but to try and charge her for extra for the holiday itself doesnt seem fair to me
Anyone have any advice?

found this on the T & c's so not sure if you can argue with it.

Depends if tncs state black out dates, if they dont, she shouldn't have to, like others have said go back to sky and discuss your concerns with them, who was it who informed u of ur win? they r your best port of call,
i paid extra on a holiday win because i wanted to add someone to it and the prize company done their best to help me do it cheaply, it turned out to be just £188 to add a 13 year old to a 4* 5 night break inclu flights.
Is your mum asking for the break out of typical ski season?? or has she added anything extra?
and r they asking for alot? xxxxxxx#JusticeForGrenfell0 -

No she has not asked for anything different and the dates she picked are within the timeframe
They have basically said to her that the cost of the holiday/ flights come to close to what they can do so she has to pay for the lift passes/ equipment hire/car hire etc
However in the term and conditions of the prize it states that they are part of the prizeJuly 2015 Wins- Shaun The Sheep Goody Bag, 4x Books

Well car hire you'd have to pay for as your mum probably doesn't have a valid driving license for use in Alberta(just a guess), so that cannot be avoided.
But you should have a right to protest about the equipment hire and lift passes
Also you could complain to them that there is no prize limit stated in their T&C's, and as such they shouldn't be labelling the prize with a limit now.July Wins - Stargate Universe DVD Set0
