Same here... I got excited when my total turned to 0.00 (bought a book for £3.50) - but when I clicked continue, it said can't be used on this account! Oh well!

Just tried to use cjv2 ($7.50 off) and it came up with the message :
This redemption code is linked to another PayPal account and can't be used with this PayPal account.

sounds like ebay and paypal are getting wise to other people using other peoples codes.
