When we went to London last year we got tickets via National Rail's 2 for 1 offer. It was only meant to be available Monday to Thursday but I pleaded dumb and asked for them for the Friday night and they gave me them no problem.

Might be worth a try phoning with the DVD offer and play dumb i.e. you didn't realise it was only Monday to Thursday. They can only say no!

You can get discounted tickets to some London shows with an Oyster travel card

    http://www.tfl.gov.uk/tfl/fares-tickets/oyster-family-discounts/index_flash.asp

However neither Lion King nor We will rock are mentioned.
    Hope that helps someone.

or try one of the TKTS booths, it is the only half price ticket operation. TKTS is a registered Trademark so all the touts aren't allowed to use it.
:idea:I got an idea, an idea so smart my head would explode if I even began to know what I was talking about:idea:

    Hi

We got tickets for £20 each (plus whatever handling charge) so approx £25 each by ringing ticket master. We were sat in the highest part but we could see fine. Went to a matinee so we could have moved closer as it was quite empty but our seats were fine. Excellet show!

    Hope this helps
