Hi
A quickie for you wonderful people.....apologies if this has already been asked/answered:
I would like to make some cheap draft excluders for the placing at the bottom of doors (our house is sooooo cold at the mo  ). I have some off-cuts of material, but was wondering what was the best/cheapest thing to stuff them with???
Any ideas???
Thanks loads

Traditional cheap stuffers are old stockings and tights I have 4 men in the house and they go thru socks like nobodies business so I keep the holey ones for this sort of thing.I also keep old pillows that have gone flat, pull out the innards and wash them and fluff them up then keep this for cheap stuffing. You can reuse it to stuff cushions etc0

I made a giant sized one yesterday to go across the bottom of some draughty french doors, I made it from a linen table cloth and stuffed it with a double duvet torn into strips. It works wondersOrganised people are just too lazy to look for things

You can also put your curtains behind radiators to keep the heat in, and ive heard of people putting tin foil behind radiators to reflect the heat back into the room. As D&DD says, stockings and tights make great draft excluders, you can always stuff them with old newspapers if you havnt got any cloth!!! HTH0

We put reflective foil behind the radiator, a narrow shelf over the top to stop the warmth disappearing up behind of the curtain & made sure nothing blocks the front of the rad & its tropical in our front room now at minial cost. Foil was about £5 to do all the rads in the house & value range shelf £3.50, from B&Q

i made mine from an old duvet cut into strips and covered in an old sheet into sausage shapes. they work great. if you have draughty windows, put washers in the bottom hem of your curtains to help weigh them down and stop them blowing about, works great when you have windows open in summer too!!£2 saver club 30th sept 198 £2 coins = £396(£350 banked)0

i have one i bought but i am sure you could make one it consists of two rolls of covered foam joined with about two inches of cloth which you slip under the door so that when you open and shut the door it stays in place0

I remember seeing those twink, thanks for reminding me. I knew when I saw the foam pipe insulation in the hardware store the other day that I could find a good use for that stuffOrganised people are just too lazy to look for things

just realised something else i use last night, in the spare room i use one of those carrier bag sausage things for storing carrier bags behind the door, cos i'd run out of duvet when i got to there, it works well though.
