Daughter is getting married this Summer and have been looking at renting a chocolate fountain.
Wondered if anyone could tell me if these prices are good.

Don't get one, or of you do be very careful.
We got one a couple of years ago. What a nightmare. Followed the instructions to the letter and it seemed to be doing nicely. Then suddenly the archimedes screw that propels the chocolate to the top of the fountain started to rise out of the machine. The result was a well spattered kitchen wall, cooker and microwave, the remains of which we are still discovering some 12 months on. It was returned to the store we bought it from. Never again.
I think the trick is to dilute the chocolate with vegetable oil, and you really do have to use a lot of veg oil to stop the chocolate from coagulating. We used a lot of veg oil, but seemingly, not enough.0 -
We hired one for our wedding in August and it went perfectly, we had people do ours for us, we had 75 people and it cost us £300 for 4 hours that included our staff member to help every guest, serviettes, plates, and 5 things to dip. It sounds like this is similar prices so yes i think the prices arent too bad although i would recommend trying to bargain with them though as our package was meant to cost £400 but we got them down as we didnt have as many guests as the package quoted. I know other people who have managed to get the cost down aswell if its in a less popular month for weddings. HTH0

We have a mini size domestic version, and it takes quite a lot of chocolate to fill that! So before you hire anything, check exactly waht's included, and if the chocolate isn;t supplied, how much it will cost.0

is the I wanna buy it or do it forum.;)
tbh, chocolate fountains and weddings don't go in my book - people have spent a lot of money on their outfits, and the last thing they want is hot dripping chocolate over them.
For the henny night, that's a different story - look out for a deal and have the henny pampering night in someone's house, if you're that way inclined (lots of btb prefer this to going out in L plates and getting bladdered.)Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

I personally think the best thing to do is buy a large chocolate foundation and set it on a table with decor etc.
Renting one can be horrible, has others have said, you are responsible for damages etc. At least when you buy one you have the 1 year guarantee, and it works out much cheaper. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. I work in events and I hired a choc fountain for a club I was working for from this place
The prices are great and the staff are fab- your choc fountain hire includes a member of staff.
The thing I liked best was that most of the fruit supplied is actually grown on a farm owned by the company owners parents!
I've used them for serveral parties since- both for work and for family parties so I've become quite familiar with the company and totally recommend them.
Good luck with your daughters wedding!0 -
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. Good luck with your daughters wedding!
Gosh..these prices are much higher than the company that I am looking at, and they don't have the illuminated table as well.
Thankyou all for the advice, but have also been looking at various companies on the internet, and have found that the original one that I was looking at (original post) seem to have very good rates, so am going to book them.
Looking forwad to the big day, now.

I agree with the comment about getting the chocolate all down there lovely expensive outfits, however chocolate fountain is quite flash and would be lovely, however £300 for a chocolate fountain does sound a lotof money and thats the lowest one in the offers on that particular site. Im pretty sure you can get some cheaper ones if you really search the net!! ill look to :)x0
