As far as I am aware, and correct me if I'm wrong, but if it's unsecured (not against your friends house), then I thought the maximum length you could pay it back was 7 years.
From looking around, not all lenders give you that long, some have 5 years as a maximum.
The only way you would get £17,000 over that kind of period would be linked to a mortgage, something I don't have as I'm 23 and have no chance of buying a house at current prices.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. I agree with daveboy in that most lenders are 5 or 7 years, but I have a 10K loan with Northern Rock for 10 years.Bank Charges Claimed: 180
