Nationwide e-savings letter came through today with a rate drop, is that not usually an indication?0

A lot of institutions have been lowering rates recently. This is not because there has been a BoE base rate change, or because they are expecting one, at least not directly. It is because the interest rates available in the money markets (which is generally where they put our money) have been dropping in anticipation of a BoE base rate fall.
However, over the last week or so, money market rates have recovered quite a lot. This shows reduced sentiment that the BoE will reduce rates. So I personally would plump for NO CHANGE for the moment. If I did have to choose a direction for the next move, it would be DOWN.0 -
