Gotta agree - I have been with them since the early days. Call Centre staff are always polite and helpful. Better than any of the ones who use offshore call centres. Its amazing how HSBC can get it so wrong, whilst FD get it right!
I once had a complaint about a dunce in an HSBC when I went to get some cash to pay for a car. Not strictly FDs fault, but they were straight on to the branch laying down the law, and sent me a bottle of red too!

I reckon I get a flyer a week hassling me to take up their mortgage - but I'll stick with Nationwide until I have something to offset it with!

I had the exact same problem with HSBC when trying to get a bankers draft for a car.

Again, not FD's fault but they waived the £10 charge anyway.

Anybody know why their offset mortgage calculator is no longer on their website?

    Thanks
  • How odd, their calcuator was on their site last week (I think?)

I got so fed up with the amount of marketing "rubbish" they sent, i phoned them to ask them to stop sending it- and guess what-

    It stopped immediately!!:T
I am a fee charging WoM Mortgage broker.
I now no longer give information and opinion within the Mortgage boards, because a number of posters who, having approached me professionally, agreed my fee-which has been been made very clear at the outset, taken my advice (normally cancelling a [home visit] meeting at short notice) have then approached one of the fee-free brokers on here to arrange the very same deal I have advised.
Whilst I totally concur with the ethos of "money saving"- abusing the goodwill of a professional who provides a quality service is taking it too far!
