I am about to apply for an ISA with Northern Rock, fixed for 3 years 3.5%.
I want to move the funds from the current ISA I have with A&L as that is only around 1.5%.
I have just over £13500 to move. This includes this years allowance.
I know about transferring it properly and have downloaded the correct forms from their website.
I have saved a further £3600 so I can put it straight in on April 7th, or as near to as they'll have it.
My silly question is.......... I really want to sort of forget about the current savings and start again - various reasons. What I'd like to do is open another ISA acount in April with the 2009/2010 allowance. That would be allowed wouldn't it?

I find the way you have worded your question a little confusing, but if you are asking, can you transfer the A&L ISA to NR just over £13,500 and then in April open another ISA (a new one) and deposit whatever from your 2009/2010 allowance then yes there would be no problem, transferring an ISA has no bearing on anything, the money belongs to previous years, as long as you say you follow the transfer rulesHope for the best.....Plan for the worst!

OK.. yes that is what I meant.
I just worried that we couldn't have more than one running at the same time.
I told you it was a daft one.:o0 -
In April you can open a new ISA be it fixed or variable with whoever you like. I have ISA's with three different providers. HTH0

I just hope you are right this year, because, at the moment, there are only crap ones around. Maybe they will improve as we get nearer April0
