Claiming Tax Back

Hi

iv just looked at some old pay slips and just realised when i was 16 i was paying tax. the first payslip i got was the 1st november 2005.

would i be able to claim this back or is it too late? if i can how do i go about doing it? iv tried to look up how but its all confused me

    You just write to your tax office and ask them to check whether a refund is due.

    It doesn't matter how old you are - if you earn over your yearly tax free allowance, then you are bound to pay tax. The fact that you started in November might mean that you have paid too much tax though as a tax year runs from april to april. just call your local tax office (HMR&C) and they will tell you what you need to do, then they'll work out how much, if anything you're due.
