The most despicable piece of financial manipulation I've ever seen! Blog Discussion

  • I have a relative who works for A&L and it has been made quite clear to her that she is not employed to assist or advise customers, her job is to sell stuff and in particular credit cards and insurance. They are encouraged to sell insurance with everything and push credit cards to everyone who hasn't got one, even to people it's not suitable for. They also treat their employees like crap. Although Martin has been banging on about the A&L current account for months I flatly refused to have one 'cause the £50 bribe wasn't worth the hassle of dealing with A&L - eventually my relative talked me into opening one (because she was getting grief from her boss for not being able to sell stuff to her own family!) but the girl who made the application changed all the details when she put it through the computer, including applying for a credit card which I didn't want (extra sales points to her). When I phoned to complain that I hadn't applied for a credit card since I already had an A&L visa they said I had applied, but when I challenged them to fax me a copy of the application with my signature on it they went very quiet and cancelled the card!
We are also trying to remortgage at the moment and they want to charge us £750 just to transfer from one of their own mortgage deals to another one of theirs - alternatively we can move elsewhere and they will charge us £300 to leave (plus we will have to pay conveyancing and setup fees to the new lender).
A&L are sharks and in my opinion if they offer a good deal for anything you should be looking very closely for the catch 'cause these people don't give a damn about their customers they just want new business.
  • I recently applied for the Moneyback loan and was accepted... with insurance that I did not want. To cut a long story (and several phone calls to A&L) short, I was asked to reapply for the loan without insurance... at which point my application was rejected. Funny, that!

I used to work for lloyds (well, for 6 weeks) and it wasn't service they wanted its staff to provide, it was SALES SALES SALES.

all banks are the same, hence the BILLION £ profits....

in fact, most companies are the same.....
The word is BOUGHT, not BROUGHT.
    It's LOSE, NOT LOOSE.
You ask for ADVICE not ADVISE.
